Enjoy

Marriotts Walk is a modern yet charming extension to the historic market town of Witney in West Oxfordshire. It opened in stages starting in October 2009 and completed in early 2010. Built on the site of a former Witney Town football ground and former Highway depot and named after the local Marriott blanket‑making family, it replaced a post‑industrial area with a contemporary mixed‑use development combining shopping, leisure and residential spaces as well as children’s play area and FREE parking in a multi-storey car park adjacent to the centre.

History & Ownership

The first phase included big names like Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, New Look, Wallis, Monsoon, Accessorize, Dorothy Perkins, Frankie & Benny’s, Café Rouge and a five‑screen Cineworld cinema, along with 590 free parking spaces and 143 new homes.
In 2023, West Oxfordshire District Council bought the freehold and leasehold taking an active role in the centre’s regeneration and community engagement. The council was even shortlisted for “Deal of the Year” in 2024 for this strategic purchase.

Retailers & Tenants

Marriotts Walk hosts a blend of national high‑street brands and independent businesses. Core retailers include M&S, Hobbs, Fat Face, New Look, Trespass, JoJo Maman Bébé, Hotter Shoes, Sports Direct (in the former Debenhams unit), plus The Shop—a boutique spot for smaller local enterprises.
Food and drink outlets are varied: Caffè Nero, Bella Italia, Pokhara Delight, Subway, Alfonso Gelateria and an M&S café. Cineworld anchors the leisure offering.

Community & Events

Public art enriches the centre, including the Witney Yarn Mosaic and the Buttercross Needle, which chronicle Witney’s development. Seasonal events help energise the town—most notably the weekly market and seasonal Christmas Market.
